Silvics has developed new hardware used for equipment monitoring and utilization tracking. GPS enabled "Data Boxes" will collect information on where your equipment has traveled and when it was working (adding value). Key waypoints (e.g. bunches, chemical application) and polygons (log decks, skidder pull rows) are presented in a way that is easy to understand and act upon.
The data collection devices transmit waypoints wirelessly back to an onsite laptop in the forester’s truck. After data is downloaded, it can then be used for analysis in a GIS application, such as the Forester’s Desktop. Silvics can adapt the Data Boxes to collect information from a variety of equipment and machines.
